I got my first guitar at the age of 16 but really didn’t start seriously playing until 18 after a life changing concert. I remember the moment clearly. I was offered a free ticket to a John Mayer concert in Omaha as long as I’d provide transportation. I obliged thinking it would be a fun weekend away from home. But in actuality I was about to watch my biggest musical influence, unbeknownst to me at the time, do things on the guitar I’ve never seen or heard before. It was some of the best guitar playing I’ve witnessed. Do yourself a favor and listen to anything other than “Your Body is a Wonderland” and perhaps you’ll start to see what I mean. For the first time, a musical sound and style truly resonated with me and I thought, “That’s how I want to play.” I’ve been hooked ever since.
Fun fact, I never really listened to country music until I was asked if I wanted to join TrainWreck in early 2018. It’s an entirely new genre to me, but I love it! I never really thought I’d play in a band, much less a country band, but here I am TrainWrecking my way through a new world of music that Mike, Greg, Brad, Joe, Kelsey, Jess (we have a lot of people), Dan, Tim, Jim (a lot of people), Andy and Tom have graciously welcomed me to.
